The Time to Slow Down

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there to all my faithful readers. I hope the Holiday crazyness left you with a smile. Of course Mini cleaned up this year. Which is really no surprise. Since this is her last year as an only child we wanted to make it really special. No she still did not get her Itouch or Cell phone but I think she still got a lot of really good stuff. Lets run down her gift list:
Santa:
Leappad
Stuffed Mario
Stuffed Windrider Cub
Design-n-Play Playhouse
Angry Birds Beanbag game
and of course all the stocking stuffers
From the rest of the gang:
4 Monster High Dolls
2 Bratz
2 Leappad Games
Clothes
Puzzles
Art supplies
Make-up
Race Track
My little Pony Castle
1 Stuffed horse
1 homemade quilt (For her big girl bed)
Monster High Dress up clothes
earrings
watch
Monopoly
Life (this game is a little difficult)
Monopoly Jr
Jenga
and a lot more clothes

Basically Mini was really good and covered this year. As I wrote that list I realized that I may have missed some stuff but lets face it the kid made bank when it came to the goodies and we are extremely greatful for all of our family and friends for helping us make this another great year. Let me hit on the game of Life. I have always loved this game and was excited to see Mini get it but then we started to play it and let me tell you that it says for ages 9 and up and yes Mini is a little young but she did pretty good for the amount of time she played it but it took 5 adults to figure out how to play this new version of the game, which didn't hold Mini's attention very long. She did love playing Monopoly Jr and I cant wait to play this with her at home this was right up her alley.
Now that Christmas is over (sigh of relief) it's time to start slowing down a bit and start taking stalk to of the past year and begin reflecting and begin to make plans for the next year. This year for us has been filled with some ups and downs as every year but I think that we have had a pretty good year with all things considered. We are looking forward to continueing the fun and greatness to next year and hope that you will continue to join us as we begin our new journey with our new little one and keeping up with our Mini. In the next day or so I will of course post a recap of our year and a little run down of what we are expecting for the new year.

Tis the Season-News on the baby

Merry almost Christmas all my faithful readers. I hope this week is finding you all well as we enter into the home stretch that is Christmas. Since the day is almost upon us and I'm sure many of you still have that last minute shopping to do I figured I would take the time to give a little Christmas news.
I kicked this week off with two doctors appointments. The first was just my routine baby check and of course the newest little member of our family has a strong heart beat. I was told at this point that since we have been having the issues with her kidneys that my due has been moved up. (No surprise there) But instead of nailing down a new date I am told I am now on a floating due date. But I can tell you we at least have it down to a month. The newest member will be here sometime in Febuary. Now not to toot my own horn but I have made this prediction since I found out we were expecting. I knew that I would never see March pregnant and that she would be making her debut during Febuary now the only thing to know is when. So that was Monday's doctor also at which time he informed me that we are just in a waiting process of when it will all go down and that due to the now dryness of my skin (cause apparently that's what happens with the weather and pregancny) I needed to lube up. Yup he said those words.
Now on to Tuesday's doctors appointment. You know the hardest thing besides having to go to the doctors now every two weeks is having to be poked and prodded. I never cared for this practice to begin with but with the last few appointments my anxiety levels have just been going up. Of course all my other levels have been reading really good so I guess beggers can't be choosers.  We recieved postive news on the last sono appointment in the fact that they could actually see her bladder. The rest of the information was still a little unsettling which always makes me nervous before the next one. I know in my heart that she will be perfect but it's still the build up then waiting game that make you play once there. So this time we sat there and learned that all fluid levels are doing good. She still has a strong heart beat (of course she does, my girls are fighters) She is measuring in at 3lbs 10 ounces, a little on the big side but it is to be expected with the diabetes. Sidenote: This is the point that once again I am asked if I had been told about the prenatal testing for diabetes. it is also at this point that I have to point out this is where I am glad to already be a diabetic so that I don't have to take that horrible test. The one test that I can actually skip. Just saying...ok back to visit.
Once again we were able to make out the bladder which is a good sign. We could also make out the ureter (the tubes from the kidney to bladders) which the last time is was just showing as one large piece. The left kidney has went down a bit in size and the right is still showing to be dialated but still stable which is good news becasue it means it's not growing. Also with the fact that they can see the ureter we can now see that there is a blockage at this time toward the base which means that fixing it, if that is what needs to be done, will be easier. With that news we were taking off immidiate danger and lowered. Again this means that though we will still have to meet with a Pediatric Urologist we did not have to go this week or next week. We are able to wait until January 13th. The danger and worry is still there but we are postive that these are very good signs. And we continue to put it in the Lords hands as we continue to pray and ask our loved ones to do so as well. Again this week we have some Blessings that we are very thankful for and continue to be thankful for everyday and I will continue to let you know what is going on as we learn it and digest it for ourselves.
Mini is out of school this week and also asked several times if she could open one of her presents at least twice a day this week. I love being out of school but then you have to think that we have to entertain these kids while they are out. Ugh. But she has been very good. She had her first official sleep over this past weekend with one of her friends (who was not family) and she had a blast. It's hard to think of Mini growing up but I know it is something that I have to come to terms with at some point. Maybe when she's thirty. Since this is her last year as an only child we are trying to make it special with out really making that big a deal of it so she is excited with the little things right now. Ok folks I'm sure you all need to get back to wrapping presents so I will start closing up. I just wanted to let you know whats going on and since I still get a little teary eyed when I talk about it this is the next best thing for me. I'll catch you either right before or right after Christmas so from my family to yours Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays in what ever manner you celebrate.

Christmas Wish lists

Hello again my faithful readers, it's that time again where I share a little of what's happening in my neck of the woods. First off here is the Mini and her picture with Santa. Now like all children she filled his ear with all the things she wants. You know things like a doll, a bike, a cell phone, a Itouch and a leappad. Hmmm lets see what I can mark off that list. In order to mark some things off I must weigh some thoughts so I think I may do that here. Let's see her age....Hmmm well she won't be needing a cell phone. I think it's crazy that she wants one at this age but we reasoned with her instead of just putting the Hell in front of the No. We asked her why she needed a cell phone, she said "So I can call Poppa and Gigi and Grandma and Grandpa" "Can you not use our phone?" we ask and she thinks about this..."Yes I could but what about calling you and daddy?" she asks. We point out that everyone she needs to call usually is around her and that everyone she is with always has a cell on their person so let's wait just a bit. P.S. this has been on her list since last year. I don't think we've visited the phone issue enough.  Ok now then let's go to the Itouch. "Mini why do you need an Itouch?"
"So I can listen to music and play games." hmmm. This is another moment that we must once again reason with our daughter. "But you have a computer that you can play games and you have a Zune that has music." Lucky for me this one is easily crossed off her list. Now she wanted a Nook we considered this since she is learning to read and seems to be enjoying that but she of course fixed that issue when she saw the newest device from LeapFrog. The Leappad Tablet. So this one is not so easily crossed off the list.  Now for those of you that are parents with young children you may know that Christmas time is one of the worst times to have to search for the hottest toy. You can look and look and you still may not find it. Even going to the actual company that makes it may cause you to shed a few tears. But hopefully we can avoid that. I'll let you know in the next day or so on how that part of the list is going.
Since I am on the subject of Mini's wish list I would also like to point out that kids now are very technology savy. Most can work our new phones better then we can and they are not afraid to do this. But with this knowledge comes the downfall. Because all of their toys are becoming high tech they are becoming more disconnected with the outside world in ways and as a parent this scares me a little. I want her to know that it's really ok to go out into the sun, that she really won't burst into flames. We need to get back to toys that take them out of the house. So I've got my additions to her wish list.
I heard today that the average family spends $200 on presents for each child. I know, I'll let the shock wear off.......
Better? ok, so yea $200 well I can tell you from experience that $200 is way off. I mean if you have an only child then you are bound to spend more then that just on electronics alone. Then you have the regular toys that you want to get them so they are not so invovled looking at a small screen. By this time you're up to at least $275 or $375 then if your like the rest of world you are going to buy them clothes and depending on where you shop that's going to run you a bit of cash too. So far your childs stuff, if liquidated, is worth about $425 or more. Then you tack on the rest of the presents. See normally I don't think of things like this because, well being on a fixed or budgeted income you don't want to actually put a price on Christmas, but if you got right down to it our kids make out like bandits and they don't always seem to understand just how greatful they are. Then again when we were kids we never really understood just how good we were making out. Even on the poorest Christmas of one's life and believe me, we all have one whether we were aware of it or not, a child is going to bank about $500 worth of stuff from all angles.
Right now I'm not seeing the Holly Jolly in it seeing as how Mini as been coping an attitude about why she has to strike things from her list. Then to add to it we will have our new bundle next year. No wonder people go into debt at the end of the year. But with all the knowledge that I am gaining about this finicial side of Christmas (I think I need to go into business during this time) I am also gaining an insight to things I didn't realize as a child. Sure not every Christmas was packed with big ticket items but it was packed with love from my family. My parents worked hard so that we would always have the best Christmas, and of course we did. I never realized until Mini all the things parents will do to keep their children from knowing if they were in bad shape. And because of this new knowledge I am more greatful because my family always did have a great holiday. I can only hope that even as I frantically search for that one impossible toy or bitch about the actual cost of Christmas that Mini will never know just what we went through to give her everything. That is something she will learn when she is older and has children of her own. But it is a lesson that I am glad to say (even though it sucks) that I have learned and that Roo and I are making the best of.
So see people you are not alone in the crazyness. Mini is not alone in the having to scratch stuff off her list. And I am not alone in the pains that will begin to feel as I try to pay those bills come the first of the year. Cause lord knows we are all gonna have them. No mater what Christmas means to you or your wallet it does mean more to our kids and so long as we keep them with the idea that it is really about family and not about the loot I think they may actually survive to adult hood. Well goodnight my faithful readers.

December with the family

Happy Holidays to all my faithful followers and readers. This is the first Christmas Holiday addition. I can't really go in to the full Christmas blog since it hasn't even gotten here yet but I can go ahead and make some head way on the goings on in my happy little conner of the universe. First off the picture up top was taken on our after Thanksgiving camping trip. Denison, Tx has a big holiday light drive thru park, which was really pretty. The Mini loved looking at all the lights. We had a good time that weekend. Then it was back home, back to work and back to the same old things that we always wish we could leave behind. But it was back to the daily and back to the realization that Christmas is in fact right around the corner. (Ugh) By the way here is the part that I am going to point out that it is still CHRISTMAS. Now I understand why this may upset some people but for those it does upset well you suck. Simple straight forward and end of story. Whether or not you celebrate Jesus's birth or just the holiday it's self by taking the name away you are diminishing the memory of this joyus holiday for others. See when I was little I waited for Christmas morning when I knew that Santa would have left me some really fun toys. I didn't call it by some other name. Even going to a christian school at a young age, I never realized the "evil" that was Christmas. As I have gotten older I still don't see the harm in having "Christmas". Instead I have to hear what an insult it is to others. Hmmm. I remember when it was ok to pray in school and because it insulted/offended one person we had to change that. Nevermind thoughs of us that wanted to continue to practice this. See for all the grief we get for being "Christian" think of this though we have all talked smacked about our praying rights being taken away we have still stood by and let it happen. Though we may protest it we have allowed those who are uncomfortable with shows of religion to tell us when and where those of us who are secure with our beliefs can discuss or even celebrate our. Hell even the Christmas trees are now called Holiday trees. Listen folks agree with it or not it's holiday. Sharing in this holiday season no matter what you call means you are partipating in a celebration of birth and life. No it may not be the birth you believe in but the fact is, you do believe in something and that is what counts in today's world.  Take Mini for example, she has of course asked the question of when this holiday started but as she grows it will be up to her to choose how she wishes to celebrate it. I don't knock you for your beliefs don't knock me for mine. Right now our children see christmas as a time for presents so fighting over what to call it seems a little stupid.
Ok now I'm off my soapbox about that. I just frustrates me that there are those out there that want to dictate everything everyone does and yet they celebrate the same holiday or the same version of the holiday as we do.

Now then onto other things. Mini is going to have her winter break soon and before you know it the newest little one to our family will be making her apperence. Of course will learn more on that issue later this month and I will keep you posted. Now Christmas has kind of snuck up on us this year I don't really know anyone who is ready for it this year. This year has been quickly passing us by and before we know it, it will be over. With that being said. I am thankful and greatful for my family and friends. The holiday season reminds us all what we should remember during the rest of the year our family and friends are the ones who are there for us when things get rough and they are the ones who will continue to be there when things get better. Just saying sometime we need to think of those people when we send our thougts out. Something else we all do is just get by and I think we take for granted that there are others out there that are in the same situation so for just a miniute of your day take the time to offer a little encouragement to those around you whether it is just to say or to offer somekind of helping hand. You shouldn't wait until the giving season to give or offer help. Well that about wraps up today's blog. Again I am wishing you all a Happy Holiday right now as we kick off our Christmas season and I hope that everyone enjoys whatever plans they are making.

Some news about baby

I am normally really good about sharing information when it comes to what is going on in our lives but here lately I have found myself shutting out some of those details but as the holdidays drawl closer I want to let my friends and readers know a little about whats been going. The baby is of course a girl for those of you that are just now coming into it. We are excited about that, Mini is over the moon with idea of being a big sister. Now on to the other part. About a month ago we learned that there was an abnormalty with her kidneys. They are larger then what they should be. The first Doctor who looked at the sonogram was not very encouraging or very well with bedside manner and infact decided that a second opinion was needed.
Once the second doc came in he took a look and said that though this is a serious issue we will be able to move forward. Today we we for another check up to see how our little girl was doing. I can tell you that this has been a very long month as I've been dealin with the stress and worry over this. I have asked for prayers on this matter and though in my heart I know she will be just fine it's still that little bit of fear that keeps me worried. Today we were told that there is no change, the kidneys are still enlarged though we were able to see the bladder when last time it appeared as if the blatter was collapsed. So we have taken this as a postive sign. We have to wait until next month to see what is going on and then its off to the Urologist to discuss some more options. At this point we are being told that she will need surgery to correct the issue but that we need to wait to discuss with another specialist.
This isn't something that we have been talking about with many people and we want to continue to be postive. Mini is not aware of the what is going on and we have kept others from speaking about it around her. Somethings I don't think she needs to know at this point in time. The other postive news is that all other levels are normal. She is producing enough fluid, even though her kidneys are still holding quite abit, her heart beat is strong and her blood circulation is good. Again I know in my heart that she will be just fine but I will still ask for prayers for her progress. I have done the over worried parent thing and have read up on this issue and have discovered that it is a common issue so that gives me even more hope.
I'm sure that as ya'll read this you may be wondering why now? Why would I be ok with talking about what is going on? Well it's simple, I've never been shy about the going on's in my families life and this is a type of therepy for me to let out some of my thoughts. Life is a gift and as we move forward with our little girls I have invited everyone to a little glimps into our lives so why hide something that means alot to us and weighs on our mind? In the next addition I will introduce everyone to our newest princess with a look at one of her sono pictures. Thank you all for you support and continued love and prayers. Though I may not know you personally please know that I still hold you, my readers, dear to my heart

My list of Thankful

As Thanksgiving drawls near it is time to discuss some of the things that I am thankful for. First off I would like to say that I try to be thanful for something everyday since everyday should be treated as a gift. But from there here we go...
I am thankful for my family. My family is what gives me strength during the good times and the not so good times I am greatful that they are in my life.
I am thankful for my friends. Though this list does seem short I am still greatful for everyone of the ones that I have. It makes them more important to me.
I am thankful for my beautiful Mini for the past 6 years she has been my light and joy in life and now we are blessed to be expecting another little one.
I am thankful for this time that we get to spend with our loved one. Even when they make us crazy we are still blessed to have them with us.
These are just a few of the things I am thankful for this year.

Post Halloween and then some

Happy Nov. peeps. I hope that Halloween treated you all well. We started out looking for the perfect costume for Mini and she found a few that she really liked. First off she liked the masks. I mean who doesn't like a good mask for Halloween. After deciding against the whole KISS thing, mainly because she wasn't really sure of who KISS was. Go figure she decided to try something a little more gruesome. I have to say Mini does like her ugly masks. Of course Mini decided that she may need her hands in order to hold the bucket for candy. I'm glad she thought of that otherwise it could have gottne pretty ugly. So we continued to search. We looked at witches, bats, vampires, princess you know that usual suspects but leave it to Mini to decide on the costuem that would be the simplest this year. She wanted to go as a pretty little girl bunny. So it was off to due the search for right stuff. Look normally bunny parts are easy to find. Every year that have an abundance of ears and tails but for some reason this year I just couldn't finda anything but right as I was going to give up and try to talk Mini into something els Gigi came to the rescue and found the ears, tail and bow. Now we just had to find the outfit for the rest of it. You know most years I love Halloween, I try to make it a family thing where we all get to dress up but this year I am sad to say I was just ready to get it over with. But I sucked it up and continued on to make sure Mini had a good time. Finally it was close to Halloween and our town hosted it's Trick r Treat on Main Street and my cute little bunny got ready for her first bit of Halloween. There were alot of cute costumes but of course I think Mini's was the best of them all. We were all tired after the trick or treating by the end of the night and finished at Mcdonalds. It was a good night with lots of fun to be had. Of course Halloween, this year was on Monday there was the issue of school but then there was the other issue of Mini not feeling that well. So instead of trick or treating on Halloween we were at the dr's office. In order to get her there we had to promise to take her to get her very own bag of candy. Which worked out pretty well since this way she didn't have to share. Ok so now we are done with the whole Halloween season and now it's time to start getting ready for those other Holidays. Again I'm just wanting to get it done with this year. I just don't seem to have the energy for it. The rest of this week I have spent trying to make sure Mini is feeling better and making sure that I am feeling welll. I've been subbing the last two days and I have to say honestly that these two days have been pure hell. Yesterday was better but I am just having an hard time wrapping my head around how kids are acting now adays. I have heard many different reasons of why a person acts they way they have but today I actually heard someone blame a teacher for their behavior. Wow, give me my younger kids anyday. Well let's get ready to cut the turkey and trim the tree then its time to welcome the newest little member in the family. I guess life is going pretty good.

New Baby and Other Information

This past week has been one full of wisdom, excitement, sadness and hope for my little family. Its been something that I have kept to myself because I wasn't ready to talk about. And though I still am not ready to talk about every aspect I will at least bring you all some news. We found out that we are expecting another little girl. Since we have had names picked out for both cases we are extremely happy to know just what we are calling this prescious little bundle. For those that may or may not not I am all about family. I think that our family, though a little off kilter at times, are what makes us, Our ancestors are the ones that have paved the way for our future by allowing us glimpes into our pasts and it was because of this reason that we chose the names that we did. With that being said there has been a trend in my family that our younger girls share a name of the older female cousins in the family. We ended with two names that we both liked that were both family name, since most boys are given the name of the fathers side we decided this one could be given a name from the moms side and we debated on which one would suite. What we decided on what Sophia Michelle, named after my oldest cousin. But just like Mini, our newest member will of course be known as something else for this sake of privacy and this blog. For now I will just refer to her as babygirl.
It's always exciting to learn what you are having and we were more then pleased with the results. But I will ask that you my faithful follower will keep us in yoru prayers as we are praying for her to remain strong and healthy. Eventually I will go into that part further but right now I just can't. So now we will skip to the other emotions, I passed my final class in my B.S. program and was able to aply for my diploma. I have to say that I am truly happy because I have have been in school forever and am just ready to concentrate on somehting else for awhile and though I'm not looking forward to this part I guess I'll concentrate on my career. (Yuck) we are starting to build our wish list or regerstry for baby and Mini is getting more and more excited. I also think she getting more and more nervous but I'm hoping that it will turn out better. Well peeps that about it for right now. I'm sure I will have some pictures and other news to post soon so until then, goodnight world.

My friendship woes.

Pregancy can bring out the worst in some people. I almost think that I can see that with me right now. But not in a homacidal kind of way. I think right now I feel a little used. See I am person that rarely can say no to others. If you need help I'm the one you can come to, I'll listen to your problems and not question your need to vent. But sometimes I feel that I am being taken advantage of.
I think that people believe our friendship means that they can have me do stuff for them with out really thinking that I care. Normally I don't care but it's the pressure that has been put on me lately that I am starting to feel. Last week for example, I was sick for the first part of it I was playing catch up for the rest of it. It was my last week of my college education and I was have just been worried over some other issues. It's during this time that I am asked to do a favor or that I am called and asked why I have done that favor or if I could hurry up. Here's the thing, I have a job, a husband, a house, a six year old and one on the way and they are important to my everyday life. I do often times forget things and I do try to make it up to people but I also have my own projects that I have to get done and I often lose track of time for others. So when people get upset with me because I have not been able to fit into their schedule or because I can't meet them right then and there or even give a good time that I can it does start to bring out a side of me that I don't always like.
I'm not perfect I know that I have surely done this to some of my friends but I do try to acknowledge that, that is not the only reason we are friends. And sometimes I feel that its about what I can do for people and not myself that they tend to like me. I know sounds high schoolish but right now thats how I feel. And right now I just need to be around people who kind of get that I don't always want to be the one you run to when you are having a technical issue. anyway thats how I feel. Later Days

Gloomy Day

I've noticed that I have been having some gloomy feeling type days here lately. It doesn't really start out that way but there is always something that triggers it and I begin to question things. I'm not sure if its hormonal, well I'm pretty sure it's not all hormonal but I can tell you that I don't like it. Like today Roo brought Mini something home from her gp's. She was suspose to go visit the F.O.'s last weekend but she was sick and we decided that she needed to stay home. It wasn't even that fact that Mini got something I think it just hit home the fact that I'm not well liked with that section of folks. I never did anything to them but for some reason I'm just not good enough and that puts me in a gloomy mood.
They won't even get in touch with Roo, they go through the GP's and that's really starting to suck. It's like we don't exist. The only part about us that is there is Mini. Don't get me wrong I am glad they love Mini, in fact I would be truly pissed if they didn't but it hurts that they don't even want to see Roo. Now I'm thinking that the only thing I am to them is just the birth mom and not much else.
I can't help when these thoughts hit, I don't know what their damage is because I know my little family is awesome but it still hurts that we are just an after thought. Oh well I guess I can't be liked by everyone.

Fair Day

Once a year the Texas State Fair opens for about month, the schools at this time get together and send home fair tickets so that the kids can get into for free. This is also a way to entice the parents to spend the money on more things then you actually need. But I have to say that today we had a really good time.

Today Mini and I got up got dressed and went to the state fair with my parents and cousin. We looked at the new and upcoming cars and of course I found a few that I liked. We went on the Midway (something I haven't done in years) Mini won not one but both games that she played for the first timeShe got another smaller pilloow pet (horse) and a little tiger. She got to run through one of the fun houses and ride in one of the hounted houses that was always my favortie. I wasn't able to do any of the rides due to the pregancy but it didn't stop me from having a good time watching the mini. After talking to Mini we decided that we will be going back when her daddy can go with us. Well thats all there is today folks. It's off to do some school work then bed.

Something to do

Well hello there my faithful readers and welcome to another exciting addition of Wed. lol, just kidding. So today has kind of been a little on the ugh side. I got up to take Mini to school then I had to rush home to get ready for the Doctors office. No, not the baby doctor the blood one. When I get there it is 8:45am and the girl tells me I am early. I know I'm always a little early to everything so I'm ok with this. I thought my appointment was at 9 or 9:15 but then she tells me it is at 9:45. Ugh. Well I guess I could go home. The girl laughs says "Oh no that's ok you're here anyway." (Like I'm going to drive in trafic back home to only turn around and go back.) Anyway it was good cause they got me in and out quickly.
Then it was off to home to work on school and half-ass everything else. I'm right at this point that I can't seem to make myself follow through with things. I mean I try but it's just not working. I missed my work meeting and will miss it tomorrow due to working but its just...blah. So now I'm killing time before my scheduled two hours. hopefully tonight it will go quick since I have to work tomorrow. Baby is so not enjoying this I can tell.
You know what's funny though? When everyone asks what are you having? So I've decided to guess at different things. Today I think I'm having a duck. Tomorrow maybe a puppy. One lady sneered at me (yes sneered) because I answered with "A baby" I know what they mean but after awhile of hearing that question you should be able to have a sense of hummor about it. Or at least I think so. Later days

Fleeting

Life is so short for so many and it breaks my heart that one should die so young. As kids we believe that we are invincable and that nothing bad will ever happen. This past week our small little town was rocked with a track wreck that took one young mans life. Once this happened I began to think about life in general.
Today we drove past where the wreck accured and there was a lady standing on the side of the road telling us to slow down. Two things struck me in this moment 1) we were only going about 15mph and 2) where were was this lady the other night when the accident happened.
To often people only decide to change their behavior when a tragedy strikes and though I can understand where she is coming from I feel that as a parent we are not doing our jobs by now warning our children what can happen. Instead allowing them to go out and take those chances without the knowledge to be more cautious. Please do not think I am blaming the parents for this horrific sadness but I think that if other parents can learn from this, then one child could be safe from this happening again.
So I will finish with this as we once believed that the world was at our fingertips and that life is a neverending joyride please remember that it is actually fleeting. We are blessed to be here and we are blessed to be able to hug our children once they come. As parents we are able to put teach and to hold our children accountable for their actions and we need to once again give them the knowledge to make the right choices to go with those actions so that maybe just maybe this will not happen again. Something to think about.

10 Years Gone By

10 years ago today Roo and I were getting ready for work, unaware of what was awaiting us once we got there. We noticed that the radio in the car was only on news and that people were standing around looking at the tv's that were placed in various places through out the store we were working for. We watched as the second plane hit the second tower. We everyone held their breathes as a nation began to crumble. Our nation's leader acted to protect us, knowing that more lives would be lost. War was declared.
10 years ago today we, as Americans, came together with our fear and grief. We watched helpless as nameless hero's did what they could to help those victems of the crashes. We mourned those fallen fireman and police officers who answered the call that would take their lives. As a nation we watched, prayed and waited. Then as one we began to feel the anger out weigh the fear. We watched as friends and loved ones answered the call to go and fight for all those lives needlessly lost and for those of us who could not fight ourselves.
Once again as a nation we watched as those few cried foul. They said we were wrong for wanting to protect our families and those families of the fallen. They said we were wrong to send our soilders into a fight that was brought to our door step. Those people believed that we should find another way.
10 years ago today we learned what it was to have an attack here on American soil. We learned our trust in other nations gave us. And we learned this all because of someones extreme hatered. We have our hero's, those that wear uniforms and those that do not. These are the men and women who dedicated themselves to a cause that was bigger then was going on at the local high school. We have mourned our fallen and we have celebrated our victories, small though they may seem. It has been a long battle and though it may not be over, I know as a nation we will continue to do what we must to protect our families. I may not fight along side those soilders and fireman or police officers but I will continue to support them in their efforts to keep me free and to keep my family safe.
So today as we have every year since, take a moment to hug your loved one. Take a moment to remember those who have lost their lives because of a persons hatered of a free nation. I could tell you exactly what I was doing and where I was when this all happened. I can tell you of the fear I felt for my family and friends, but I won't. Instead I will say that the ones that need to be remembered are those families who lost their loved ones, the service men and women who continue to go out to do a job knowing that they may never come home. Remember that as one we felt the fear and the pain of loss. As one we came together in a time of sadness and made something out of it and remember that Sept. 11, 2001 like Dec. 7, 1942 we were attacked first and like Pearl Harbor we put fear into our enemies. They may not always fear us but they will remember that once attacked we will as one nation bring the whoop ass they so deserve....
Thank you for letting me remember today.

Happy Labor Day

Hello my faithful readers, I hope that this Labor Day weekend has treated you all well. First off can I just point out the change in weather. I mean it feels so much better then it did a few days ago. Hopefully it will hold out. I'm wanting to start decorate for the fall weather but I still have so many things that I want to get done.
This weekend also saw our family getting together. We don't get to do this to often anymore but I enjoy when I get to see and be with everyone. Though it has been pointed out that I have grew out just abit. I always enjoy family dinners and wish we had more. So my plans for this week are simple, I'm going to start working on getting the house back in order so I can decorate for the upcoming holidays. Then we are going to go meet the teacher and find out what is going on with mini. Once again she cut her hair but this time she said she didn't catch herself doing, no really she was stretching and the scissors just happened to be in her hand. She also started riding her horse Justababy. She is doing so well in only just a few days and I know she will only get better. I'll of course keep everyone up to date about how things are going. So that's the plans for the week and we will see what else we can get up to.
Well later days

Home Sweet Home

They say there is "no place like home" I have to say that as I sit here I can totally agree. My home is a place that I feel most comfortable. So since I am in my pj's I guess I can get started with what is new. First off I guess I need to tell you that since I've found out I was expecting I have gained 20 pounds. The doctor didn't give me boundries, at least this is what I am going to stick to as I completley blame him for my onset of weight. (I'm nice, aren't I?) Last week I had not one but two doctors appointments. On Wed. I met with my blood doctor to see how the omni-pod was doing. She was impressed with the fact that my sugar has never looked so good and actually made the suggestion that I needed to stay pregnant all the time. (Um, no.) But at least I got a good thumbs up from her so all is well.
Friday I went to the Baby doctor. This is where I feel the need to tell you that I had a long week last week and ended up in bed more then I was really out of it. They checked and heard the heart beat (All clear) and then of course did some blood work. Turns out that I have a U.T.I. and that is the reason my last week was a really sucky week. So with a little medicine they said it should all be good there. I go back in a month for another check up and then the following visit we will find out if our little bundle of joy will be pink or blue.
Mini is still enjoying school though right now she is home sick. Poor little thing she was running fever this morning. Yesterday was my hard day. I woke up at 3am and just couldn't go back to sleep then I subbed yesterday at Mini's school, needless to say I was a really sleepy mommy by the time we got home. So I took a shower ate some food then was shuffled off to bed by Roo. I woke for about two hours and watched a little tv then it was off to sleep once again. I know it will be better and I know we still have alot todo. We are still trying to finish the babies room but it will be just a bit. Everytihng will work out. Thats all we keep telling outselves.
So like I said today I get to snuggle up with the puppy and take care of my sick little baby girl. I see some naps in our future but at least we can do it at the house.

Back to School

This is a picture of Mini on the Friday befor going back to school. We have had an awesome summer and I am going to miss her something aweful, yet at the same time I would have gladly dropped her off for a overnight stay on Sunday night before school. Yes, I guess you could say I was ready. So,Sunday night we got everything together and ready for the next morning. Do you remember the when you were little and the excitement about the first day of school always had you getting up early? No? Well I do and Mini was no exception to this rule. She woke up at 4 am saying she couldn't slee. She woke at 5 thinking it was time to get ready. At 6 I gave up and decided to fix breakfast. So we made Cinnamon rolls. Then it was time to get dress. Last year she let me take pictures of the whole process, this...well not so much but I did talk her into posing with me and for the camera.
I love this little girl so much. Roo and I got to walk her in because of a deal that her and I made the night before. She took a Twizzler then I got to walk her to her class. Hey don't judge, she's still my baby. Once we got there we both surprised at the fact that she actually gave us hugs and kisses. See last year we barely got a nod. I think I got hug but I wouldn't swear to it. I do know that we were dismissed last year and this year she told us she loved us both. So the first day went off with out a hitch.
The second day was a little different. See I hadn't been feeling all that grand and Roo stayed home to let me rest. So I got Mini up, like always, and she proceeded to get dressed. She didn't want eat at the house (which was fine) but she wanted to wear a purple shirt jeans and high heels. Once we discussed that she was not wearing heels for the second day she began to tear up because she just didn't know what shoes to wear. (yes we cried over shoes) She chose some purple shoes to match the purple shirt but they had sand in them. "Baby dump the sand"
"I still know it's there." she whined. "Ok pick new shoes" So she settled on her knew sparkly multi colored tennis shoes. Once tied she began to cry and whine more. The whole shoe thing took 15 min and I was running low on temper. So she goes to brush her teeth. I went to help brush her hair and she didn't want me touching her only daddy knows how to brush her hair. (Look I know I'm a daddy's girl and if I acted like that with my mom I'm glad I don't still have that hair brush attached.) So after that part, I figured we had moved on. "Mini you are not taking all that money to school" She wants to use her money to buy breakfast. "Let me see how much it is." I go to reach for her bag that she is holding and she turns and tells me only daddy can get it. (By this time I swear if I hear "only daddy" one more time I become violent.) So they are walking to the door when she tells me "Oh and no pictures today" Before I can stop my self I mumble "But I'm gonna need something for the milk carton." Now I know to many of you that doesn't seem very funny. But if you know me then you first realize that I would never actually do harm to my child. I may want to, but I never would so quit judging and get over that comment.

Another Piece of the Project.

Happy Sunday my faithful readers. I hope that both of you have had a good weekend thus far. I know I'm happy with it. As you know, Friday, we finished the top of of the "babies room". Saturday we decided to take a little time off from working on the room since it was almost 3 when I got back from getting the planks cut, then we had to go to the store for some food. (I hate this practice and if it wasn't for the fact I do enjoy eating I think I would skip it all together.) Then Mini went to stay the night at NannyPops leaving me and Roo home to relax for a bit. Then of course today came around and it was time to get back to it. So let's get started. The bottom half of the wall is not done in the traditional one piece panel, instead it done with planks. It was done this way because when I purchased the planks online through Lowes.com I was shown a full piece. Notice my epic fail there oh well we decided we would make it work and I'm really glad we did. Now yesterday my dad cut the planks for us so that we could run 'em up on the wall, then he showed me how to use a nail gun. It's not often I get to play with tools. Needless to say I was ready to go. Now here is a tip when

working with wood planks that are tounge and groove, start in the corner and work your way out. Also since wood sometimes has a tendency to chip try each piece out before using nails and glue. Shoot the nails in at an angle, especially if there is not stud to be found, this way it will help bond the plank to the wall with wood.
Here is what I did this morning. I can tell you that it was tiring the nail gun got a little heavy but I think I did a good job so far. We had to stop so that we could fix the plugs. In order to fix any type of electrical make sure the power is completely shut off. We do this by placing a night light in each plug after the breaker has been flipped to make sure there is no live power coming through. I mean it would suck if someone got electricuted.
After all the plugs in the room were changed and fixed it was time to get back to work. So far we have the bigger portion of the room finished. I'll post more pictures when we are completely done with this part of the project. After this we have moulding, trim and a chair rail.

Baby Room Project Update

Happy Friday my Faithful Followers, I hope this week has treated you all well. So with-out further ado let's get started with the babies room progress. As you know we had to tear down some existing paneling in these two pictures it shows one half of the wall with-out paneling. The original plan before getting new was to paint over the existing wall, but after tearing down the old paneling that was there we found that, that idea was so not going to pan out so once again we were Lowe's bound for some more paneling to paint and put up. Now we tore down the original last weekend but due to heat and my blood sugar we didn't get to finish putting stuff up. Well we also had to stop to go and pick up Mini from her grandparents house where she spent the weekend. I can tell you that unlike Rome, this could have been completed in a day again low sugars make for a shaky Tiffany and a bad helper. I did however, get to cut some pieces (only because I grabbed the razor knife and began hacking away before Roo noticed.) I also dropped the camera once while taking pictures causing me to freak out a little and test the camera to make sure it was goin. Roo said I was just taking a break that I really didn't need. I of course did not agree since I wasn't actually doing anything at the time. So here is the proof that I was really and truly in the room at the time of reconstrution.

Yes I know I look bad, I was hot, sweaty and a little hungry if you want the honest truth but anyway, you may find that I have a way of getting a picture of me in most anything we do, even if I have to take it myself. Now back to the remodel. After tearing down it was time to start putting back up, here's a strange fact not all the walls in my house are the same height or even level for that matter. I say this because it makes doing these projects a little more complicated, but at least it keeps us on our toes. The easiest wall to take down wat the wall in the corner. There was no glue on that particular wall allowing for a quick pull and down it came. So it was also the first one we decided to put up. Of course we will finish things out with trim but as you cane see it is already looking cleaner.

Since we started on this corner or nook (however you want to see it.) we decided to keep it going by finishing out this wall. It was about the last piece when I started feeling a little woozy and it was also about 9:45pm so we thought it would be ok to call it. The pieces that you are looking at were all painted earlier in the day. (The one good thing about 110 heat, paint dries in 10-15 min.)

Can you believe we found another large hole under the paneling? Anyway that's for the bottom portion, anyway the wall has came together pretty quickly once Roo realized I was pregnant and not handicap. Which means I can help. Anyway tonight we finished with the last wall which was also the most annoying since it has the window on it, But we got it done and now I am excited to say we will start on the bottom half tomorrow. By the way what seemed like the hardest part really wasn't that hard once you thought outside the box. So now we have one full piece left with some scraps that we can turn into something. Oh well at leat we are one step closer to the finished goal

My Parent Soap Box

Well hello there my faithful readers. Here I am on this nice hot day and I am about to get on my soap box, mainly because I feel that some people need to let things go. I've found over the years that if you don't try to better yourself then you are only living up to those expectations that others have created for you. I'm seriously try not to judge but when you go on a social networking site and start spouting off how everything in your life is everyone else fault and not your own, I begin to get a little annoyed. Let's face it on top of the already raging hormones your idea of life is not quite what I want to hear about. I know if I don't want to hear it or see it then I shouldn't listen or look but when you begin to attack family then I can't help but look. For instance a person has a choice to grow up or to be babied. Now I have to admit that I enjoy being the baby of the family but even I have look at things a different way. I'm no longer my mama's little baby, instead I am an adult (I know questionable at times) I have my own bills I have my own child, hell I even have my dishwasher. But these are things that I have worked for. My parents did me right back giving me the knowledge I needed to get through my life. Is it everything I hoped for, maybe not, but it is everything I will work for. Let's take Mini, she is my heart. I love her like crazy mainly because she can drive me crazy. Right now we are going through some transitioning with her growing up and mommy being pregnant. We will get through this but I have to make sure she understands that though I love her unconditionally I still expect her to act like she has a brain in her head. If she grew up, made some bad choices then blamed me for her choices I don't think I'd appericate it very much. So here is a fact for all you blamers, Fact 1: Parents are human, they make mistakes, they screw up. But they are the ones that will love you the most. Fact 2: Unless your parent is handing you the beer, drug or other self reducing product don't blame them for the choice you made to pick it up. For most of the human world it's called expermenting. Most everyone has done it and those that are strong enough get over it. Fact 3: Parents are suspose to guide you not rule your life. Sure they have that whole "til your 18" thing but after that it's time to sink or swim. You need to get off your ass and start making something of your self. Fact 4: (and this is important) Nobody, and I mean Nobody, is perfect. We all have our hang ups. We feel cheated, slighted, misunderstood, taken forgranted and so on. We all have feelings and we all have to make the best of what is given to us. Sometimes you need to open up your eyes and see things for what they really are. Don't like your folks but you have no job and no place to go well either suck it up or find a better solution. If you so unhappy in the place you currently are then move, change things but know this just because you move locations doesn't mean your issues will go away. Problems follow all of. So when someone says your running away from your problems, I say you're just relocating them.
Now on the flip side to the parent issues kids you need to understand that before there was you, there was them. Your mom and dad were seperate indivuals. They actually have names and shocking though it may seem, they actually had lives. Sometimes as a parent we forget this. Though I am still new to the gig, I've learned that people see me as Mini's mom and Tiffany. Then again sometimes I don't even remember who Tiffany is. That's strange to hear but it's the truth. We as parents put so much effort into raising and protecting others that we sometimes lose ourselves in the process. They are there to help guide you and once they feel like you won't kill yourself or mame others then it's time for them to get to be people once again. They deserve this. Now I'm not saying that whatever issues most people have are false, I'm not attacking those that are truly trying to work through things regarding their parents, I'm just tired of hearing people not be thankful for the things those parents did. I'm a sympathic person and I uderstand frustration, hell I listen to it and contribute on a daily basis, but I also am thankful for everything my parent's have taught me and given me over the years. I could be me with out them, but I don't want to be.

Starting on the Babies Room

Today we started the long grueling process of decorating the babies room. First off we needed to begin taking down the old wall paneling. We decided that we would paint the top have and panel the bottom half making a surf and swim decore. But once we got the wall down we realized that it was not in the shape for painting and we went in search for an affordable solution. Like most projects that we have been undertaking lately, we found ourselves at Lowes. There we found some paneling for cheap so that we could paint over it. After haing them cut the pieces in half we took it home to begin our new project. In the pictures above that is what we started out with. This was Mini's play room and thankfully she is ok with letting the baby take over. Roo started taking off the paneling then Mini even got into the game by helping take off some of the loose wall paper underneath. After this we started working with the new paneling. Before we went to Lowes we went to Homedepot to get the paint we wanted. At first we thought we would get a plain white panel and were told that if we were to do that then we would want an eggshell paint with primer to give the painted area a little texture. Having used Behr paint products before we once again chose this brand for out remodel. Since we are going with a surf theme for the babies room the obvious choice for the paint portion of the walls is a light sky blue. I have an order in for a full wall murial that will feature a fun little beach picture and figured this would be a good start. In the pictures to the side you can see the wall unpanelled then you will see the finished top piece of the wall in the sky blue (in the picture it may look almost white) Once this was up (we painted outside to have the paint dry faster) we needed to get some electrical work done. We bought both rooms new ceiling fans and We decided to put it in. This is where I brag cause he did it all by himself with no help. The original fan was a colorful kids fan that barely worked anymore making a horible noise as it rotated. Roo got that down piece by piece then proceded to put in the new fan. half hour later we had a pretty new white fan that will help give off the beach cottage feel that we are looking for. After the goodness with the fan we wanted to get in the new ligh switch box so that we could put up another piece of paneling. He did really well having never done electrical work before. (Don't try it with out supervision) This was the part we needed a little help. Turns out the box was a little tricker then we realized cause we kind of had a short. Now when working with any type of electrical one should always make sure the power is out. When you make a mistake with the electrical make sure you have someone who can either explain it on the phone or come right over other wise you may be stuck with out power. (This was my worry) But with the help of dad and a few minutes of what the hells they guys got everything working. I'm still proud of him for doing something new, I knew he could do it and though we needed a little help I think that the fact we didn't set the house or eachother on fire really impressed him. So after that we decided that the next bit of painted wall could go up in the next day or so. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will begin to actually have the room decorated. I'm excited to get started on this project and hope that everything goes well and it turns out. I'll keep ya'll posted on the all the fun.

Welcome to My World: Something Newish

Welcome to My World: Something Newish: "Sometimes in life you have to make a choice. Do I stay with the broken or do I go with something that works. Sure the broken is mine and I d..."

Something Newish

Sometimes in life you have to make a choice. Do I stay with the broken or do I go with something that works. Sure the broken is mine and I don't have to make payments but in Texas it is hotter then hell and I need some air conditioning. So after debating on what todo me and Roo made the decision to trade in the Outlander for a new car. Now I know what your thinking we just royaly screwed ourselves by taking on a way bigger payment when we had ours payed off. Your right however, like I said Texas is hot during the summer and I like to be as comfortable as humanly possible, add in the pregnancy and well there ya go. So we started looking around and found a really cool Dodge Durango that I liked. It was used but the price was good...But then we began talking to the sells people and financing it became clear we may want to go in another direction for a bit so we kept looking. Mini kept beggin to see a van. (I don't know why) So the lady gave in to the pint sized request from the Mini and we looked at van.

Ok now look, in life a person says things that later bites them hard in the but. Me: I don't think I'll ever get married. 10 years later I have a wonderful husband who I am still madly in love with. Me: I'll never wear bell bottoms and platforms. Well we all know how that turned out for a while. And of course Me: I'll never be a Mini-van driving soccar mom. Yes I know this is a little harsh but I just couldn't see myself being like that....The reality is though I am not a soccar mom (she is pushing for it though) I am now a MiniVan mom . Mini loves it, Roo is laughing over the idea of it and I'm ok with driving it. So see people do change. Now that I've got air in both cars now I can see about doing some other stuff. Or not I'll have to take it one day at a time cause thats where I'm at on most things. I just thought I'd share my something newish with everyone.

Later Days.

More Decorating

Some girls like to eat while pregant, well apparently I like to decorate. My domestic goddess is coming out in a big way. Mini's got her room being decorated and we have the new wall in the kitchen complete. Now I've got to

finish of the wall in the living room redo Mini's bathroom and totally redo new babies soon to be room. Oh on top of that we want to fix the floor redo our bathroom and paint and new furniture of the bedroom. This is going to be a busy few months. I'm about 7 weeks along and besides the early showing and dragyness I'm doing pretty well. Thank god I don't have morning sickness. (I hate throwing up) The down side is that at this time I can't each chocolate. (I know I'm in hell) but it's ok cause I've been trying to kick that for awhile now so. For now I'm taking it one day at a time trying to get my projects done even though it's really not me getting to do some of them. (Roo worries) and I am trying to keep my mind from slowly slipping away from me. Mini is still way excited even though she knows she will be losing her play room. I'm hoping that this pregnancy will be blissfully uneventful and we will all be good. Everything will turn out the way it is suspose to in the meantime I am having fun getting the decorating ideas. We were going to do a little pirate theme for the new baby but instead have decided on beach and surf. So we will get restarted this weekend while Mini is gone and see what we come up with. Again this will be a long process but I am looking forward to the end results.

My New Project

Well hello there my faithful readers and Happy 4th of July. Today I wanted to tell you about one of the new projects that I'm getting done. So in the picture it shows a big whole in the wall. This has been there since we moved in and I've been a little ashamed for people to come over cause in my head I know that all they can see is this massive hole in the wall. Ugh. So we've been saving up and making sure that everything is caught up (bill wise) and we were finally able to begin work on the new project. See my idea is to have all the walls fixed and some of the rest of the house before the new baby gets here and as we accomplish this I will be showing whats going on. So we are starting with the kitchen and that huge ugly hole in the wall. First off we had to fix the hole and we did this by purchasing a small piece of plywood and cutting it to the size of the hole (which was a square) My dad helped us out a lot during this since we are new to doing all this. Roo started taking down own the trim and had to take out the window. So that we could trim it out later. After we got the hole covered (I was liking it better already) Dad showed him how to start putting up the panelling for the wall. Roo picked it out so we are going lighter in the kitchen once all is said in done.
Here it is with the hole covered. They did great job no more hole and I'm a happy camper. This was where we stopped for the day that was two pieces of panel and we only had a little bit more to go. So we ended the night by relaxing and going to the movies. We went and saw Transformers (which was awesome) and relaxed while Mini stayed the night with my grandparents. Sunday came on and we decided it was time to finish. (ok, I decided) but we once again started with another hole in the wall. This time it was at the base. Now since the holes were smaller it was decided that we didn't need to cut a piece of plywood to fit them so we went a different way. They say there are 1 million ways to use duct tape and so fare I know of at least 250 now 251. So we put the duct tape over the hole and we got started. Roo did really good on his own, we only had to call dad when it came to doing the electric part. He doesn't know electrical. But thats ok we got it done and now are ready to put the window back up and start decorating that wall. The finished product will be soon. So our next step is to decide what type of paneling we want for the living room then we have to finish out the baby's room or really we have to start but thats another blog. Again I'll keep you posted.

A Happy Day

Hello my faithful followers. I hope life is treating you well. So far it's been pretty good to us. On June 19th, 2011 (Father's Day) I found out that I was going to be a new mommy again. That's right, my world is about to grow a little crazier. Mini is so excited, she's already wanting to give the baby things and talking about what she's going to teach her or him. I of course told Roo in that fun way that I've been dying to (picture mail) He was stunned and excited. Besides the spike in hormones and the small stuff I'm doing pretty good. Of course Mini and Roo are making me rest at every turn. Sister helped me with the surprise to tell our parents, Mini beat us to the surprise but I am still going ahead with it. I told them just to be shocked.
Ok well I'll keep everyone posted but for now I think I'm gonna go nap.

Another Day

I'm living in a bit of a dream state. Sometimes you tell yourself your gonna wake up in just a minute only... well you don't wake up. At least one part of it is almost done so let's get to it. Mini got a feather in her hair. She was so excited. I got one too but my came out yesterday. Oh and by the way in case you didn't know she also got her ears pierced. I'm so proud of her. Right now she has been giving major attitude and it's been drivening me a bit insane. Luckly her daddy comes home tomorrow so he can deal with Ms. Cranky. She doesn't know which way is up right now. My birthday is next week I'll be...well I'll be an age won't I? I'm just trying to get through life with out Roo and once again he will be home tomorrow. There's so much I want to right about but I am having a bit of mind block so, sorry. Oh but I will tell you about the "Good Christian Woman".
So last week I told you about my DMV trip, this week I will tell you about my father's day trip to Walmart. Walmart is a wonderful place and more so on a holiday. Especailly if that holiday falls on a Sunday. Mini stays with the 'rents cause she doesn't want to go (can't blame her) and there I go all by myself. I'm not feeling all that well and just want to get in and out. Anyway as I get ready to leave I get to the check out and almost every line is full or at least the open lanes are. I see this one lane that isn't and doesn't have anyone and I turn my baskit toward it. Then here comest this lady and that tells me to move out of her F*ckin way. I stop and look at her eyes wide she then calls me a b%tch and tells her husband that people in her make her forget she's a christian.
Wow. For those that know me know that often times I fly off at the mouth. I should have here except I was a little dumbfounded. I say I was struck stupid. I couldn't believe this woman would say something like that then turn around and call herself a christian. What the hell. When I regained my mind (after she left) I thought hmm, thank you lady you just gave me a blog. I swear sometimes people need to think before they finish a thought. Ok well that's it for me. Later Days

Welcome to My World: My DMV Trip

Welcome to My World: My DMV Trip: "Good afternoon boys and girl. Today I'm going to tell you the story of my visit to the DMV to get my Drivers Licence renewed. It started out..."

My DMV Trip

Good afternoon boys and girl. Today I'm going to tell you the story of my visit to the DMV to get my Drivers Licence renewed. It started out to be a pretty day, I woke up took a nice long bath then began to get dressed. As I was putting on my make-up (I decided this picture was going to look decent) my mom called and we talked about her going with me. (I know nothing eventful here so we will fast forward to the DMV)
The local DMV is usually dead, but when we got there you could see the crowd of people waiting in a line. Normally you would have several lines or a waiting area for the different options (you know like test, renewal, reprint ect.) for some strange reason this was not the case here. Whe I came through the door a lady pointed to the end of the line. It kind of made the shape of ribbon candy which was a little strange but at the end I began to wait. There were about 40 people infront of me and I had left my mom and mini waiting in the car. (In retrospect I should have come alone but...well then we wouldn't have the story) Not long after I got in line I heard this woman with a loud southern voice "I'll kill 'em, I swear I will" My eyes got big and I noticed other people were shuffling back and forth then we heard "I'm just shaking and tears are about to start pouring. I swear I'm gonna kill 'em" By this time I started getting a little nervouse 50 people in a government building and this lady with the high pitched southern voice is going to "kille 'em" Once again i began to look around and found the owner of said voice. With a sigh of relief and a nervous laugh I was happy to note she was on her phone. So she wasn't totally crazy since I didn't hear anyone talking back to her.
After she hung up and I'm now about 30 out there were two guys around the age of 18 maybe 20 who came in got their paper to fill out and proceeded to cut in line. "Excuse me guys, the end of the line is right here." said a business man who was 2 ahead of me. The guys of course ignored them and just kept standing there and moving up with the line. Then a lady 2 behind me again tells them that they need to get in the back of the line, "I mean really does nobody else care they are cutting?" (I'm going to take the time to point out that though I care very much there are only two women working that counter) The lady who had asked this question got out of line went to the counter and pointed out the cuters. (my point is coming) Then the two ladies at the counter stop what they are doing stand up and one of them says "If you are cutting or butting ahead inline we will not wait on you when you get up here." She then asks who the guys are. (Again I am all for making the cutters go to the back of the line but we had already been there for at least 45 mins by this time and the only two women were slow as Christmas. I didn't think making them stop to point out the stupidity of two kids was the grandest of plans)
Now that the boys were where they were suspose to be and I am now about 20 back we find out that the few people who needed road tests or even have decided that now is just not the time to wait and they want to come back on Monday they need to get there at 5:30 am to be in line when they open at 8 am. (No Friggin way people) Then the business man in front of me turns to tell us all that he had already done this whole wait in line thing on Tuesday and there was a problem with a record. (By this time I'm getting a little nervous. Do I have any outstanding tickets?) Now I'm 2 back the young lady right in front of me is just wanting to get a reprint because her licence was stolen and she is going out of town. The young man at the counter is 16 and getting his first licence. (This is going to scar him. Oh wait I need to back up for a minute)
Right before the teenager goes to the counter to be scared for life there is an older woman in the line maybe about 7 back who is talking on her phone. (People please do not go to the DMV to hold a conversation, you will be mocked for days afterward) "I don't know why they have to see me. I mean I've renewing for years through the mail." (The mail? Really?) "I mean my picture was perfect I looked so young. And now...I know right, now they want me to come in just to take some stupid picture oh and now I look older" She actually sounded upset over this. The girl infront of me mumbled Botox, I couldn't help but snicker over this
Ok now back to the teenager. His dad was waiting in the back until he got to the counter then he came up to be with him as he got his first licence. This can be a wonderful time if you have all the right material. "I'm sorry sir this is not the proper birth certificate." the lady said. Then the argument happened. The whole time the lady was very calm as she pointed out that he still did not have the right material. "You are more the welcome to speak to a supervisor" the lady said sweetly. Again the others people waiting began to get quite. The man said yes he would like to do that to which the lady replied "He's in Terrell." (intake of breaths all around as all the women stepped back and a lady two behind me states "Oh I hope he doesn't have gun. I mean he looks like he'd carry a gun" by the way now not only do I question if I have any outstanding tickets now I'm wondering if I have the right information.)
Finally it is my turn and as I make my way to the counter and sign the information the lady has me do the thumb print thing (So far so good) then she has me do the eye test thing. (Crap.) I got them right even though I kind of guessed at the last two numbers on the right hand side. Then it was picture time. I have to say compared to my old one this one may look pretty good. Of course then it was time to pay. (here it comes.) Online it says they only accept cash, checks, money orders so I went and got cash out. I put the cash in my wallet but when the lady asked me for the money I couldn't find it. (Panic) As I began rummaging through my wallet and purse and mubling to myself like a crazy woman I hear the snickers behind me. (I don't care I'd laughed at them) I was about to pick up my phone to call my mom who is sitting in the car when I glimpsed a sign..."Um, do ya'll take debit?" I asked the lady with a little false hope. (signs can be misleading) she smiled and said yes to which I thanked her kindly and handed over the plastic. After all was said and done and my nerves shot it was time to get out of that place. When I got in the car and started looking for my "lost" money I found it in my wallet (Don't ask) and again I found myself mumbling. I then recounted my 2 hrs of adventure to my mom who patiently waited for me with my daughter in the car.
I of course bought lunch and Mini a hair trim, hair feathers and (Rolling my eyes) Justin Biebler never say never. Well that was the excitement for that day. I hope you enjoyed my happy tale until later. Happy Weekend
